Transjugular Liver Biopsy

TJLB is performed in patients when liver biopsy is essential for the diagnosis and management but percutaneous biopsy is contraindicated due to deranged bleeding parameters or ascites. Indications: Ascites. Coagulopathy (prolonged PT or PTT or a low platelet count) to the extent that PLB is contraindicated.
